The horse stands confidently, yet there’s an intriguing dissonance in the way the figure’s chin and face seem to push through the horse’s back—as though both resting on and overtaking it. The two nude female figures on both sides of the face create a dreamlike interplay between elements of land and water, blurring the line between the real and the surreal.
